19th Annual Komen Connecticut Race for the Cure

June 2, 2012 - Hartford, CT

 

The 2012 Race for the Cure Volunteer Application will be posted shortly. Please check back for updates!

Course Monitor: Guide participants along the Race Course.

Food Tent: Hand out food to participants at the Race.

In The Pink: Register In The Pink participants, Distribute T-Shirts, and In The Pink gift.

Info Squad: Provide Race Day details to participants at main entrances to the park, at the information tent, and by roaming the park. *Volunteers will be required to attend a training session prior to Race Day.*

Registration Tent: Register participants, issue bibs and collect fees.

Site Breakdown: Saturday Afternoon. Help restore the park to pre-race condition at conclusion of Race.

Site Setup: Thursday and Friday before the Race. Help set up tables and chairs, hang signs and prepare site for Race day. Please note- all site setup volunteers must be able to lift 20 pounds.

Split Callers: Call out times to runners as they pass mile points on the Race course.

Sponsor Tents: Assist with sponsor tents, traffic flow, and maintaining displays and samples.

Survivor Tent: Assist with the Survivors' Breakfast, Survivor Parade, tend to and distribute Survivor gifts.

T-Shirt Tent: Sort Race t-shirts by size, fold and hand out to registered participants.

Volunteer Pool: Assignment could be any job listed, placed where needed most.

Water Stations: This is the perfect job for groups of volunteers with lots of energy and enthusiasm. Distribute water to runners and walkers as they pass by, and provide some cheers of encouragement as they complete their event!

ZTA Tent: For ZTA members to staff the survivor check in tent.

Year Round Support: Various tasks including administrative duties, mailings and other Komen Connecticut related activities and events; both one-time and repeat opportunities available.

A Volunteer T-shirt will be given out to the first 300 registered volunteers on Thurs, Friday and Saturday – Race Day. Work assignments will be e-mailed 1-2 weeks before the Race. This e-mail will include a brief description of your duties along with the date, time and place where you are to report.

It is the hope of the Volunteer Committee that our volunteers will also support the Race for the Cure by registering and/or fundraising for the event as every bit helps us in reaching our goal. However, this is NOT a requirement in order to volunteer for the Race for the Cure.
