Volunteer Opportunities

Each year, hundreds of survivors and activists will volunteer their time, talent, and resources in support of our work to end breast cancer forever. Whether you volunteer once a week, once a month or once a year, we welcome your help and respect your time. Many volunteer opportunities exist; please sign up to volunteer and join our network of survivors and activists.

Race for the Cure®
Every year, we host our signature event to raise funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer, celebrate breast cancer survivorship, and honor those who have lost their battle with the disease. We are now recruiting volunteers for our 17th Annual Susan G. Komen Connecticut Race for the Cure on June 5, 2010!

Volunteer Signup for the Race for the Cure is currently closed.
Thank you to everyone who has signed up. Assignments will be sent to your e-mail this week!

Ongoing Office Help
Komen Connecticut has an ongoing need for volunteers in our Hartford office. Duties include answering phones, assisting with mailings, filing, data entry and other general clerical duties. Opportunities are available weekdays only. Basic computer, phone, and office equipment skills required. Good customer service and a dedication to our mission are imperative.

Community Health Fairs and Events
We often call on our dedicated volunteers to represent Komen Connecticut at health fairs and  community events across the state. We provide the educational materials, a quiz wheel, giveaways, and signage – we need you to bring your enthusiasm, knowledge and outgoing personality. Training will be provided for those interested.

Speakers
Are you a survivor that wants to share your story of strength and hope? Or are you in the medical field and want to educate the community on the latest in research, treatment and screening in the fight against breast cancer? Our Affiliate is invited to various health fairs, company health seminars, and other speaking engagements throughout the year and having your public speaking skills is crucial to spreading awareness and advancing our mission. Training will be provided for those interested.
