How Your Donation Helps
Komen Connecticut has been working locally for more than 10 years in the fight to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease. The generosity of our donors is vital as we continue our efforts to help turn breast cancer patients into breast cancer survivors and invest in the health of future generations.
What's even more important than the money we raise is what we do with it. Our investment in community outreach programs is crucial to the health of our neighbors and families. With your help, we are making a real difference in the breast health of the men and women in Connecticut.
We are extremely careful how we spend the dollars you entrust in our care. Komen Connecticut has a multi-pronged approach to fighting breast cancer:
- We address the community breast health needs of underserved populations in the State of Connecticut.
- We support essential local education, screening and treatment programs.
- We invest in crucial peer-reviewed research programs being conducted locally and nationally.
Seventy five percent of our net revenue is used to support local breast health programs and 25 percent funds national and local clinical research. Thanks to your support, in 2008 Komen Connecticut granted $871,000 to 22 breast health organizations across the state to fund education, screening, treatment and $810,000 to breast cancer research – that’s over $1,680,000 granted in Connecticut last year.
Your ongoing support is critical if we are to fulfill our vision of a world without breast cancer. Please make a donation today!
