Our mission is clear ...

To save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures.

Breast cancer is not predictable - it is a random disease.
There are no boundaries - age, race, religion, socio-economic status, etc.

It's the leading cause of death among women ages 40-59. Breast cancer strikes women during their most productive years - both personally and professionally.
Nearly 3,000 people in Connecticut are diagnosed with breast cancer each year,
placing the state high on the list for incidence of breast cancer in the USA.

Susan G. Komen for the Cure is a global catalyst in the fight against breast cancer and is credited with changing the way people think about the disease and those who survive it.
We have a more than 20-year history of patient advocacy,
building awareness and raising funds for research and community outreach programs.

Susan G. Komen for the Cure Connecticut Affiliate began 13 years ago with a Race and was  formally established on October 4, 1999.
Today, Susan G. Komen for the Cure Connecticut Affiliate runs events throughout the year and awards over
half a million dollars every year to over 30 breast cancer programs in our state.

Susan G. Komen for the Cure Connecticut Affiliate also has contributed more than $1.5 million
to breast cancer research throughout the nation and the world.

Yale and UCONN have been the recipients of over $2.6 million of Komen research dollars.

Susan G. Komen for the Cure is the most progressive grassroots organization
fighting breast cancer in the world today.

Our strength is our volunteers.

Each year in CT, we have hundreds of volunteers who dedicate themselves to leading and assisting us causes at all levels...
in such areas as service on the Affiliate Board and event committee leadership to less visible tasks such as data entry and distributing water to thirsty runners.
Each plays a critical role in our success.
